Social Studies

Our Social Studies teachers aim to help students understand what is special about their world. They bring topics to life—whether discussing why political parties compete so fiercely in the election process during government class, re-creating beautiful objects from Antiquity and the Middle Ages in history class, or undertaking a dream journal analysis in a psychology class. Our students use our city as their classroom, discovering the glories of Philadelphia’s 18th century architecture while on a historical scavenger hunt in Center City, or experiencing incredible archival treasures while researching at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania. Inspired by their classroom experience, students may debate in a Model UN competition or argue a case on a Mock Trial team.
