The Citizen Diplomat Academy is a free, virtual, international exchange program for high school and college students in Philadelphia and around the world. Students across the globe are able to collaborate and learn what it takes to be a citizen diplomate, or someone who addresses the world's greatest challenges. Further, students learn how to apply the core skills use in diplomacy, cross-cultural dialogue, STEM entrepreneurship and social innovation. The instructors for the Citizen Diplomat Academy range from college professors, to start up business owners, to social innovation labs, and beyond. Through this program students are given global learning opportunities, worldwide friendships, and global career opportunities.
This year, Kendall Williams, a sophomore at Little Flower, participated in the Citizens Diplomat Academy. Kendall said that this program focused on teaching students to think from new perspectives and cultures. The academy exposes students to the different ethics, morals, and bias's associated with various cultures, and works solve the issues in our communities. She went on to say that while we may have different views than someone from another background, "we can come together and united to make a solution". Kendall particularly enjoyed hearing from Philadelphia City Council Member Derek Green, who discussed social issues happening here in Philadelphia. Kendall closed by saying "even though we live in different cultures, we related in the issues we face...Together, we are stronger". Little Flower is proud of Kendall for her time and dedication this program and her community. For more information on The Citizen Diplomat Academy, please visit
